Machine Quilting by Susan Logan

Marlene's is always in the process of creation.

So please come back soon to see more of her quilts and design.

Marlene Horning is back to her usual creative cuteness with this darling House Dress quilt that she designed. Each little dress is unique with buttons, belts, ribbons, lace, pockets, and even an apron. This quilt is especially dear to her as the blocks were from the students who took the class!
The machine quilting motif was a meandering feather that flowed through the yellow sashing and into the side areas of the blocks. In the outer material which is a print of kitchen dishes, a heart motif was quilted.

Have you ever wanted a truly hand made treasure? If so this is it! From start to finish, this little Apple Core quilt was completely done by hand. Not one stitch was done on the machine, not even the binding!
Marlene says her hand quilting isn't what it used to be but you sure couldn't tell it by her work here! She's won countless awards for her hand quilting as well as her design work.
Marlene's color sense is so remarkable! Note how she used her fabric choice to make a "border".

Another remarkable note about this quilt is that all the fabrics a from other projects that she's made.

This quilt was originally planned for sale but it questionable if she can turn loose of it!

Marlene was inspired at a quilt show to make this quilt. It is a variation of a rail fence pattern which she teaches beginning quilters. The fabric has an oriental air so the quilting imitated flowing water which complements the gemetric design.

Blue Streak, designed by Fons & Porter, was made from 120 blocks requiring 13 different blues! The pattern caught Marlene's eye and she had to make it!
Quilting was similar to that shown in the pattern, with a varigated blue and grey thread used in the feather border on the outside. Then a burgandy was sewn over that to give more detail to the border.
This quilt may be purchased for $550.00.
