Susan and Marlene had been friends since 2000 when they worked together at "I Love Quilts", a quilt and home decor store in Osage Beach, Missouri. From there, they followed each other from town to town and business to business. In 2009, Quilted Oaks emerged from the dreams of these two remarkable women. Susan was a gifted artist with machine quilting. She put the finishing touches on Marlene's creations and each inspired the other to reach new heights. Just as dreams became reality, tragedy struck. In January 2010, Susan unexpectedly passed away and left her dreams in the hands of her dear friend Marlene and husband Lanny. With friends and family, Quilted Oak will remain a place to dream, to be inspired and to create friendships. In Susan words, "For in our dreams, we can invision the future and all the wonderful quilts that will be there!"

Susan will always be missed. She left behind years and years of her creations. Though her "feathers" have taken a different form, they will always be a part of us.
